Wow, what a powerful parents’ weekend in Utah! Chloe was again recognized on the High Honor Roll. It’s so amazing to see her flourish in the safe environment of her program.
Three of the girls will be graduating from the program at the end of May and going home. Two of the girls presented their final showcase on the last night of parents’ weekend. One sang Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley and the other wrote, produced and choreographed a musical play about friendship.
As I sat listening and watching the showcases of the graduating girls, tears streamed down my face. I felt joy, hope and pride for them, knowing that before coming to the program, they too had been miserable and struggling just like Chloe. They were blessed to have found this community of girls just like them where they can learn, feel safe and loved for who they are.
I watched that night thinking how perfectly imperfect all these girls are – funny, quirky, brilliant, goofy, unique, painfully sensitive and awkward. Aren’t we all perfectly imperfect in our own way? And how wonderful is it that we are?
One of our parent sessions focused on finding our core vulnerabilities and emotions so that we can better understand others with compassion. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”
Very happy to hear about the Childreth family….. I know this experience is foundational to further growth and maturity. Alleluia!
